Because Alachua County schools have spring break just before Easter, I chose this time to visit family in Alabama. Each trip is becoming more and more difficult as I see difficulties various members of my family are going through.
Originally, I had planned to be the driver to get my parents to South Carolina to visit my mom's only brother, maybe get in a visit to my cousins, and also get in some family history time as well. A quick email to cousin Michelle has changed these plans. Seems my uncle has become quite disinterested in visitors.... even those bringing food, meds or gifts. It seems this goes in cycles, and she will let us know when he's having a good spell again. Even though my parents are 500 miles from me, and he is 350 miles from them, it will be worth the time traveling if the visit goes well..
For now, plans are to spend the time with them, helping where I can, and working on a "dedication dress" for my new great-niece. I will also be working on scrapbook swaps while I'm here..
